Creative Vision

Connecting to a general concept and exploring the different creative routes and drawing out a story that resonates gets us to where the vision of a sculpture begins. Letting imagination run unhindered and then working backwards into a plan that folds within it all key elements of the project, tying together the threads into a creative vision.

Inspiration

This is the liberating phase of the project that allows me to draw on what ideas come to me at that moment in time. The sum of what I've learnt to date, the art that has moved me and the deeper currents that run through me around the tensions between our modern way of life and our relationship to a deeper nature -  all continuously evolving, morphing and growing.

Refinement

Practical questions and considerations then begin to flesh out how the piece might come together. Exploring medium, process, form, subject, location and sentiment delivers a concept that can be considered both creatively and rationally.

Study

Once the concept is clearer, I work further into it, which involves sketching, maquettes and further research that mines out and builds up a developed creative vision.
